ohnePixel’s $100k CS:GO Case Opening Disaster

The case and capsule opening in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) has always been a big aspect of the game that people tend to enjoy.

Some do it simply to get better aesthetics while playing the widely competitive game and some do it in the hopes of getting rare items and turning a profit out of them. In recent times though, the skin market of CSGO has been on the high road with sky-high prices for skins and cases.

Valve recently went on a banning spree in order to crack down some gambling sites, which resulted in the deletion of some prime Counter Strike accounts that had some of the rarest skins in CSGO. Now that the older and rarer skins are not available on the market in same capacity as it used to be, the prices of old cases have skyrocketed even though the chances of someone getting a rare skin out of them are near impossible.

ohnePixel, an extremely popular CSGO Twitch streamer, who is widely known for his case opening sprees, recently was gifted some very rare cases while live. Among those were also two Kato 2014 Capsules which alone were worth at least $20,000. The total market worth of everything he received was over $100,000. And of course for the sake of entertainment, he had to open them.

Hence he prepared a whole Spotify playlist named ‘believe.', got his sidekick on stream along with him to prepare for the case opening hoping that something, among one of the many extraordinarily high value cases, would be worth more than the initial value of the cases or at least be a rare item.

During the stream, ohnePixel's viewership peaked at 250,000 while opening some of the most expensive cases hence marking it as his best stream ever in terms of numbers. He was also not hesitant to open the cases for the sake of the stream since it was not his own money on the line but instead the whole collection which valued over $100,000 was gifted to him by one of his viewers.

While opening, he had some very close calls on few great AK skins such as the Case Hardened skin but unfortunately couldn't get them. Other than that the whole opening was, tragically for ohnePixel, pretty dull.

From a collection that was gifted to him worth more than $100k, he was only able to get close to $3,000 back. This should also be a lesson and a lot of prominent CSGO figures do recommend that people should not be getting old cases at high prices with slight chances of opening a rare item but should instead purchase the skins they want directly from trusted sources such as https://www.eldorado.gg who have various skins and items available on sale at all times.

But this was one of the biggest heartbreaking moments that has occurred on Twitch and is certainly one major memory to leave behind as we are getting closer to saying goodbye to CS:GO with Valve launching CS2 soon. CS:GO's exit has also been a factor in increasing the prices of old cases but it still did not make the skins that ohnePixel found even relatively close to what their initial value was.
