If you love sports, DAZN is the right place for you. It’s an online streaming platform where you can watch everything you want – tennis, WWE, rugby, chess, cricket, football, UFC, you name it.
There’s just one problem – DAZN isn’t available worldwide yet. It will launch in 200 countries on December 1st (no word on whether content will vary because of geo-blocks, though). But right now, you can only use the site in Canada, the US, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Spain, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. If you connect from any other country, you’ll just see this message:

How to Unblock DAZN with a VPN
It’s really simple – all it takes is a few steps:
- Sign up for a VPN services. See more VPNs here (which can unblock the site) to get a subscription.
- Download and install the provider’s VPN app.
- Run the app, and use it to connect to a VPN server. The server has to be in the same country as the DAZN content you want to unblock (so the US for US sports).
- That’s it – log in, and you should be able to watch as much DAZN as you want!
How Does a VPN Unblock DAZN?
It does that by hiding your IP address, which can reveal your geo-location (the country and city you live in, such as in Austria, you IP address will be known by diebestenvpn). If that sounds too vague, here’s a more in-depth look at the unblocking process:
- When you use the VPN app to connect to a VPN server, the two establish an encrypted connection.
- Then, when you visit DAZN, your traffic gets routed through the VPN server. Basically, it acts as a middleman between you and the site.

How to Optimize VPN Speeds for DAZN
VPNs are really good unblocking tools – there’s no denying that. But they do have one drawback – they will lower your online speeds. Normally, the slowdown isn’t too noticeable. But if you already have low speeds, it can be a problem – especially if it goes under 8 Mbps (the recommended speed for HD resolution on DAZN).
If you’re experiencing speed issues, here’s what you can do to solve them:
1. Connect to Nearby Servers
If you’re too far away from the server, it’ll take longer for it and your device to exchange data packets. Some of them might even get lost in transit, resulting in annoying disconnects.
So, if possible, connect to a server that’s relatively nearby. Since DAZN is available in multiple countries, you should be able to find one that’s close to you. For example, if you’re from Romania, you should use a server in Austria or Germany to get optimal speeds.
If the match you want to watch is only available in one country, though, use a VPN server in a city that’s close to you. Using the same example as above, if you’re from Romania and the content is US-only, you should use a server on the East Coast instead of the West Coast.
2. Use OpenVPN Over UDP
Some VPNs use OpenVPN over TCP by default since it’s a stable network protocol. Unfortunately, it’s also rather slow.

If the VPN offers multiple protocols, you should use WireGuard, IKEv2, or L2TP/IPSec instead of OpenVPN. They’re much, much faster.
Just be sure to avoid PPTP. It’s very fast, sure, but also very risky. The NSA can actually crack its encryption.
4. Use Wired Connections
We know that watching sports on your smart TV, smartphone or tablet is much more enjoyable that sitting at your PC. But if your WiFi signal is too low, your speeds will experience huge slowdowns – especially while using a VPN.
In our tests, we experienced 70-80% slowdowns by just leaving the room with the router, for instance.
So the best solution is to use a wired connection – either on your PC or by connecting your device to the router via an ethernet cable. If you can’t do that, at least try getting a range extender (like the ones from TP-Link). They should strengthen your WiFi signal throughout your home.
5. Use Split Tunneling
Split tunneling is a feature that lets you decide which traffic gets encrypted and which doesn’t. The less data there is to encrypt and decrypt, the smoother the speeds.
If your VPN provider offers split tunneling, use it to make the VPN only route traffic from the DAZN app and/or the web browser you’re using to watch DAZN. And, obviously, close any tabs you don’t need while watching DAZN in the browser.
